Turkish Pide Bread
Super easy recipe and tastes and smells divine, nothing beats fresh bread. You can make this using a machine or by hand, I used my hands.
Method
Firstly, in a bowl combine the flours, sugar and salt in a bowl- add the warm water and bring the dough together
Put the dough on a flat clean surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth
Brush your bowl with olive oil and insert the dough and cover with either cling film or a damp kitchen cloth. Allow the dough to prove in a warm place until it has doubled in size
Place the dough back into the floured flat surface and stretch into your desired shape, I did a rectangle(ish) shape
Transfer the dough on to a baking tray lined with baking paper snd with your fingers create a boarder and the lines through the dough
Glaze the dough with olive oil and sprinkle nigella seeds, then with the damp cloth cover for a second proving in the warm place for a further 15-20 minutes
Heat the oven to 180 °C/ 356°F/ gas mark 4 place the dough in the centre of the oven and bake for 20 minutes until golden
Cool on a wire rack for a least 10 minutes before eating
I served mine with lamb chops, homemade sauces and salad, click the links below recipes.
