Turkish Pide Bread

Super easy recipe and tastes and smells divine, nothing beats fresh bread. You can make this using a machine or by hand, I used my hands.

Ingredients

  • 400g plain flour

  • 100g chickpea flour 

  • 1 teaspoon (7g/1 packet) dried yeast

  • 1 teaspoon white sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 320ml warm water

  • Olive oil to grease the bowl for rising

  • 1 teaspoon nigella seeds

  • 1 tablespoon salted butter 

Method

  • Firstly, in a bowl combine the flours, sugar and salt in a bowl- add the warm water and bring the dough together

  • Put the dough on a flat clean surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth

  • Brush your bowl with olive oil and insert the dough and cover with either cling film or a damp kitchen cloth. Allow the dough to prove in a warm place until it has doubled in size

  • Place the dough back into the floured flat surface and stretch into your desired shape, I did a rectangle(ish) shape

  • Transfer the dough on to a baking tray lined with baking paper snd with your fingers create a boarder and the lines through the dough 

  • Glaze the dough with olive oil and sprinkle nigella seeds, then with the damp cloth cover for a second proving in the warm place for a further 15-20 minutes 

  • Heat the oven to 180 °C/ 356°F/ gas mark 4 place the dough in the centre of the oven and bake for 20 minutes until golden 

  • Cool on a wire rack for a least 10 minutes before eating
