bring Outdoors inside

With the unpredictable UK weather, who knows when we'll get the chance to dine al fresco the right way? However, we shouldn't miss the opportunity to gather people together this summer. Here are a few tips for bringing the outside inside to create a similar ambiance (we know it's not quite the same).

  1. Decorate with Nature: Incorporate plants, flowers, and greenery into your indoor space. Potted plants, fresh flowers in vases, and even small herb gardens can bring a touch of the outdoors inside.

  2. Natural Light: Make the most of natural light by opening curtains and blinds to let in as much daylight as possible. If the weather isn't cooperating, consider using light, airy fabrics and adding mirrors to reflect light and make the space feel brighter.

  3. Outdoor Furniture: Use outdoor furniture indoors. Wicker chairs, picnic tables, and even hammocks can add a fun, casual vibe that reminds guests of outdoor dining.

  4. Summer Colours: Choose decor in bright, summery colours like yellow, green, and blue. Tablecloths, napkins, and cushions in these colours can evoke the feeling of a sunny day.

  5. Ambiance with Lighting: Use string lights, lanterns, and candles to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. These can mimic the cozy feel of an evening spent outdoors.

  6. Scents of Summer: Use candles, diffusers, or fresh herbs to fill the room with scents that remind you of summer, such as lavender, citrus, or rosemary.

  7. Outdoor Sounds: Play nature sounds or soft music in the background to enhance the ambiance. Birdsong, the sound of waves, or gentle breezes can transport your guests to an outdoor setting.

  8. Themed Table Settings: Set the table with items that have a rustic or picnic feel. Consider using mason jars for drinks, wooden serving boards, and colourful, mismatched plates and utensils.

By incorporating these elements, you can create a delightful indoor environment that captures the essence of outdoor dining, making the most of your summer gatherings despite the weather. Fingers crossed we see a little more sunshine in the coming weeks!
